My favorite time of day for any session will always be sunrise. This is also coming from someone who is NOT a morning person. I met Gretchen and Jami at the bottom of one of my favorite trails, Mt Watatic an hour before the sun started rising. We hiked up the mountain in the dark (with headlamps) and made it just in time for the sun to start to rise up over the trees. Nothing will ever beat the view from the top of a mountain. Even when it's 35 degrees outside.
